Imac ssd temperature sensor fix.

Obviously nothing to connect the 8 pin temp sensor to. I ve booted from an el capitan installer flash drive formatted the ssd and am installing el cap as i write this. Following these instructions i simply replaced my hdd with an ssd. I currently have it at 2500 rpm which is quiet enough but can i permanently set it a bit lower.

Hello if you decide to buy the thermal sensor from owc you will need to plug the cables and stick the thermal sensor on any part of the ssd. The imac hard drive has an integrated temperature sensor the imac fans will run at full speed if you replace the hdd without the temperature sensor and or proper connector. I just installed a 480gb sandisk ssd plus in a mid 2011 imac with no external thermal sensor on the old drive.
